Recent global climate actions include carbon pricing. Many countries are using policies like carbon taxes. This makes polluting activities more expensive which encourages cleaner activities. Youth activists are being influenced by carbon pricing to take actions in advocating for climate change. Many students take classes on climate change or specifically carbon pricing. In class students will research recent activists that took action on recent global climate changes. Students are taking action in carbon pricing because they see it as efficient and powerful to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases. They are trying to advocate for bigger or more impactful solutions, like carbon pricing. By putting a cost on pollution lowers the amount of carbon footprint on individuals and businesses. Students advocate for policies like this to create a cleaner future. Many of these students protest the use of fossil fuels which is seen as the primary cause of climate change. Many of the students advocate on fossil fuels since it directly addresses the role they have in their economy. Many students started their first activist movement through “The School Strike for Climate” which is a campus level campaign. This teaches each student how to advocate for different activist actions in the future. It influences them to learn and do their own research about solutions they think would be impactful to their community, and to be firm about their idea when sharing it to the community. The Yale Center Beijing’s Project which is where they generated carbon credits. Which helped students learn more about their topic, so they were confident when talking about it. When an activist is advocating for their topic they have to be confident in their answer and what they are talking about, so the people that are listening believe the information being presented. I think that the climate activists influence youth activists because they inspire the young students to take action in what they believe. This would make the students be more confident for their future activist actions. Seeing people present their ideas and being confident makes others want to do the same to present their own. This also makes the people listening to these actions and hearing these ideas more confident in hearing these ideas as well as believing them. Activists are very important because they can teach people how to become more confident in the way they talk and how they are able to present themselves. Which is very important if you are wanting people to listen to your ideas and believe what you are saying to them. Not only adults can be inspired but also young students, who are willing to learn how they can take actions on impactful solutions to help their economy or community, as well as presenting their ideas and thoughts to their community.
