The peak season to get easy-to-peel and good-quality crawfish is March- May. The prices are lower, and the catches are larger. The beginning of crawfish season is November-February, and it ends in June and July. Warm and wet winters create the most ideal conditions, leading to early and abundant seasons. This year, the cold weather caused temporary shortages, but weather broadcasters say rain will come later in the season after the cold weather. Which will increase the abundance of the catches. The conditions suggest that this year will be better than the drought in 2024. Some concerns this year regard apple snails in certain areas, which compete with the crawfish. After the cold front, we should get warmer weather, which will lead to a normal season this year. The best places in Louisiana to get crawfish include The Cajun Table, located in Lafayette, Crawfish on the Geaux, located in Baton Rouge, and Boil Seafood House, located in New Orleans. In Covington, the best place is Bayou Boil N Geaux Covington.
