The Christmas season is one of the most magical times to gather with your family and spend time in the kitchen together over baked goods. It is an easy thing that can bring family and friends together during the holidays. While there is also magic found in cooking, baking is special because it is something children can easily do along with adults.

Since I was little, my family always loved to bake during the season. My siblings and I would always bake and the adults would cook the dinner. I was taught a recipe by my great aunt that has been in my family for many, many years. It is a chocolate chip peanut butter cookie. This recipe has been around since before I was born and everyone is known to love them.

  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
  • ½ cup creamy or chunky peanut butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 ¾ cups nestle toll house milk chocolate morsels
