Mardi Gras 2026 is getting off to a pretty good, but freezing start. This past weekend, the Krewe of Chewbacchus rolled through the New Orleans area. MardiGrasNewOrleans.com says, “The parade consists of roughly 100 contraptions which are either pushed, pedaled, or pulled and are built onto bicycles, homemade trailers, and shopping carts.” This parade was a great success and a kickoff for the 2026 Mardi Gras season! This week, we have two parades, Krewe Bohème at 7:00 pm and Krewe du Vieux at 6:30 pm, happening down in the French Quarter area this Friday and Saturday. With that, there are also two big parades for the Slidell area happening this weekend. The Krewe of Titans is rolling off at 6:30 pm on Friday, and the Krewe of Poseidon begins around 6:00 pm Saturday. Both these parades will be a time full of fun for all friends and family! Make sure to bring your coats and hand warmers because Slidell will have extremely low temperatures of 40 degrees and lower! Overall, get ready for an extremely fun, yet still cold, 2026 Mardi Gras season!
