On August 25, 2005, hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. This storm caused a lot of damage and trauma to the people of New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina caused at least 1,700 deaths and an estimated 170 billion dollars in losses. While some places have recovered from Katrina, many other parishes are still recovering from the hurricane. When Hurricane Katrina ended it left families broken apart and left many people without homes, food, water, or even money. The people of New Orleans lost their homes, family members, and even animals. The ending of Katrina not only tested the strength of New Orleans as a city, but also taught them a lesson on how to prepare for future storms.
