I got the opportunity to interview the best 8th-grade English/reading teacher, Mrs. Frosch, about the unfortunate fire that happened in Mitchell Hall. Mrs. Frosch has done a great job adapting to this new change.
Rowdy Frosch – How do you feel about having to bounce back and forth between classrooms
Mrs. Frosch – So, the first morning back, I felt a little out of my element, but overall it has been fine. The teachers I am sharing classrooms with are all very welcoming, and I have everything I need, so it’s all good. We do what we have to do to support each other.
Rowdy Frosch – What do you do on your break now that you don’t have a permanent classroom?
Mrs. Frosch – My hub is in Coach Beale’s room since more of my classes are in his room than not. I am able to stay in that room and work during my planning along with some of my teacher friends, so it all works out.
Rowdy Frosch – Is this new change affecting your lesson planning?
Mrs. Frosch – Not really. I am able to do all my lessons in much the same way as always because there is technology in all the classrooms, and I am able to transport all my supplies on my rolly cart.
Rowdy Frosch – How do you think your students will adjust to this new change?
Mrs. Frosch – So far, they have been resilient, and I think they will all do fine after a few days of acclimating to the new schedule. Our students are great that way.
Rowdy Frosch – Do you think you will enjoy being in different classrooms?
Mrs. Frosch – I think a change is fun and challenging. I like being with my peeps that I used to have as hall neighbors in Catledge as well as seeing former students more regularly.
Rowdy Frosch – What is one big setback from this?
Mrs. Frosch – I cannot say I do not miss my classroom because, let’s face it, my classroom is awesome! So, I guess just having to give up that space temporarily is the biggest setback or challenge.
Rowdy Frosch – What is one positive aspect of this?
Mrs. Frosch – The entire switch-up has been pretty smooth, and I love all the people I get to see more often now. I think it is giving us all a chance to become better acquainted with some of our colleagues that maybe we didn’t know as well before. God has a way of putting a positive spin on what we can see as negative experiences.
Rowdy Frosch – Will this new change be stressful, if so, how?
Mrs. Frosch – Again, just getting acclimated to a new space when that is not the norm has been a little disorienting, but not so much stressful. Everyone from admin to teachers, from the tech department to office staff, have worked really hard to make this as seamless a transition as possible, and I think they have done an amazing job!
Mrs. Frosch has been a great aspect to the staff of Northlake Christian, I might be a little biased as she is my mom. All teachers have adapted and are excelling in this new role. While it might take some time for high school students to get accustomed to the sight of younger kids in the hallways, overall, the transition has been smooth and positive.
