Valentine’s Day originated from The Feast of Saint Valentine, which was a Christian feast day honoring early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine. Pope Gelasius I technically invented Valentine’s Day in 496 AD, 200 years after Saint Valentine died. Through later folk traditions,  it has become a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and love all over the world.
