         To start the 2023 Mardi Gras season, the Krewe of Endymion is hosting their coronation ball this Saturday, January 7, 2023. During the coronation ball, the queen and her court of the parade are introduced and the king is randomly selected through a raffle and is announced to the guests of the ball. The first Endymion parade was held in 1967 by the founder, Edmond J. Muniz. Each year the parade has a different theme, this year’s theme being “Endymion Salutes the Poets”. The parade route starts on Orleans Avenue and ends in the Superdome where the Extravaganza is going on. Celebrities often perform at the Extravaganza. This year is country singer, Darius Rucker. The dress code for the coronation ball and the extravaganza is black tie formal.
