What are your thoughts on school safety?

Laken Viola, Staff Reporter

Senior Nathan Newberry

“School safety is important, and I think now with the school shootings it needs to be taken more seriously, like having cops on campus is good.”

Freshman Ethan Wiggins

“Our safety is better than other schools because we have cops roaming on the campus during and after school hours and the faculty really cares about us.”

Freshman Lillian Harb

“The teachers are trained and we have officers that roam around.”

Sophomore Colby Thrasher

“I think Northlake is a easier campus to secure and is a lot safer than 6A and 5A schools. Here you take school safety a lot more serious than other schools.”

Sophomore Maddie Dileo

“I would think that Northlake is more of a safer than public schools and safety is much more bigger and I definitely do think that we need more stuff around here to make this campus safer. I’m glad that we have cops and stuff especially with everything that’s happened with the school shooting a couple of weeks ago. I still think we need something a little bit better to help keep us safe.”

Senior Julia Fassler

“I definitely think school safety is a big issue right now and I believe that this school should take more precautions with school safety with cops on campus and maybe more security cameras.”

Administrative assistant Erin Brunner

“School safety is very important. Northlake goes to extreme measures to make sure that the students are safe. We have police presence, we have cameras, we have teachers that walk the halls when they don’t have class, and we have a disciplinarian that roams the campus.”

Senior Kyle Lazaroe

“As long as we’re in God’s hands we’ll be alright.”

Senior Daijah Jeanmarie

“I think that schools should take more safety precautions.”

Sophomore Caleb Lewis

“I think school safety is important because parents need to have a trust in teachers and faculty. It’s not an easy situation for a parent to just drop their child off without that trust factor, to be able to go throughout their day knowing their child is safe and in the faculty’s hands.”

Sophomore Kyren Whittington

“I believe that school safety is important. We have our phones off at school, and our parents have no way of contacting us and so teachers protecting us play a very important role at our school because there is no way for our parents to even know what is going on at our campus. I believe more police and people should be around.”

Senior Gage Dufrene

“We need it better in general and I just don’t feel safe or really protected.”
