January 14th, Louisiana was hit with an insane amount of snow for our state. Several inches of snow covered the houses, grass, and streets. Our area in Covington got about 5 inches of snow. As recorded, the last time we had serious snow like this was in 2017, so this was a big deal! We had off from school starting on Tuesday, January 14th through Thursday, January 16th for the snow. Since the roads were icy, it was very relaxing and enjoyable. My family built a snowman, which was a lot harder than we expected. We walked to Highway 190 in the snow from my neighborhood, and my sister did a handstand in the road and called it to be “the first person to ever do a handstand on Hwy 190 in the snow!” We also walked all over the woods in my backyard which was so gorgeous with the scenery of snow. I took lots of beautiful pictures of such a rare day, and I loved it. The weather was in the 20s while it was snowing, so it was extremely cold, which is something me and my family were not prepared for. I don’t have extremely warm clothes for this type of weather so that was funny, trying to get clothes to keep us warm, and to play in the snow with, because we know Louisiana’s weather is very off and on. The snow brought lots of laughter, joy, and unity within my family and I’m sure other people too, so I’m grateful I got to experience this one in a lifetime moment, which may not happen again for a while!
