The Smithsonian’s zoo is returning their famous Giant Pandas back to China. They were sent to the U.S for research and breeding purposes. The Pandas first arrived on U.S soil in 2000, they were initially supposed to stay for only 10 years, however that was extended multiple times. Only 4 Giant pandas remain in the U.S and they are located in the Atlanta Zoo. This experiment to grow the population of pandas has worked as they were upgraded from endangered to vulnerable. There are only 1864 pandas that remain. We hope these pandas get home safe and thank them for all those years of entertainment.
