One thing that many incoming students notice about Northlake Christian School upon arriving are the lunch options. Don Philips, Cafeteria Manager, has been preparing students’ lunches at Northlake for 7 years.

His team consist of several staff members who work tirelessly to make delicious meals every day. The lunch team prepares a variety of meal options every day, which ranges from hot lunches, which changes day to day, chicken tenders, salads, chicken sandwiches, wraps, and more.

Ms. Powell, who works on the lunch staff, spoke on her favorite part about serving lunch.

“Watching the students eat, and get full of of the food we work hard to prepare,” said Powell.

Headmaster Monty Fontenot, who has worked on campus for many years now, recognized the changes he’s seen in lunches over the years.

“The variety of lunches has improved largely, and he [Mr. Don] also caters for special events Northlake holds,” said Fontenot.

According to Fontenot, Northlake students should consider themselves very blessed to have the variety of choices available for lunch, which includes many healthy options. The meals alone are what stand out to many visiting students when they step onto campus.

“One of the first things they notice are the lunches,” said Fontenot. “It’s one thing they take home that definitely impressed them.”

Having a variety of options every day offers each student an opportunity to enjoy what is most fitting for them.

“I really love the chicken tenders. I get them almost every day,” said senior Christian Harb.
A majority of students love the chicken tenders. Other hot lunch hits include Pancakes, Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, and Philly Cheese Steak.

Alumni Blake Gorrondona, known as “Pickle”, said, “The chicken tenders were definitely my favorite, and I come to Northlake occasionally to have them again”.

Mr. Don and his staff love to prepare, cook, and serve the food for students, staff, and visitors, and many agree they are very blessed to have them as a part of our Northlake Family.
